CAN YOU REALLY MAKE MONEY THROUGH A BLOG?
When I first started my blog, the thought of having the option to possibly earn an income through it really intrigued me. In fact, I dare to say that it was one of the reasons I finally decided to commit to starting it.
After just over 6 months of blogging, I have finally felt comfortable enough to share with you how I am making money doing what I love.
In the beginning of my blogging journey, I came across numerous other female bloggers who were making a full-time income through blogging that allowed them to quit their careers outside of their home.
For example, Michelle from Making Sense of Cents started her personal finance and lifestyle blog back in August of 2011 as a way to help pay off her student loans after graduating college. As of April 2017, she now earns over $130,000 a month from her blog and eCourses that she has created. Her popular eCourse Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing teaches other bloggers all of Michelle’s tricks for earning an affiliate income through blogging just like she does.
Although not all bloggers earn as much as Michelle does every month, there are many bloggers who make a full-time income from their blogs.
My friend Victoria, from A Modern Homestead, has finally started to earn an income from her blog. And she now successfully makes over $4,500 per month through blogging and selling eBooks. Her ebook, Make Money Blogging at any Level, also has a guide to making money through blogging from 1,000 page views and up.
Okay, now that you have seen some examples of what you can earn from blogging, here is a breakdown of how I managed to earn money in my sixth-month blogging. Although most of the money I made last month came from sponsored posts there are many different strategies that can be used to make an income from a blog.
Affiliate Income –
ShareASale – $7.98
Amazon – $14.30
Freelancing – $0
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get any freelancing done this month. However, I do hope to find more opportunities in the future to write for others.
Sponsored Posts –
Tomoson Influencer Network – $80.00
Other Sponsored Posts – $80.00
Display Advertising – $14.67
Total Income = $200.55
MailChimp – $0
BoardBooster – $0
*By using BoardBooster the last few months I have been able to successfully boost my traffic through Pinterest. Use my referral link to try BoardBooster’s Free Trial and watch your traffic multiply today.
Fortunately, I did not have any blogging expenses last month which allowed me to keep my entire income.
Total Expenses = $0
MY MOST POPULAR POSTS THIS MONTH:
Since being published five months ago, my exclusive tips for successfully breastfeeding in public has received 5,196 views. It has also been published on Healthy Pregnancy.
With co-sleeping being a highly debated topic, I was very happy to share my experiences with co-sleeping. This post has become more popular recently and has received 2,093 views in April.
Although I was extremely successful in breastfeeding my second child up until he weaned himself just before turning 16 months, I did not have the same success with my first baby. And even with all of my difficulties, I was able to share all of my tips with my readers. This post has also been one of my most popular blog posts to this day by receiving 10,836 page views in just 3 months and being featured on mamapedia.
My list of breastfeeding essentials has also been a popular post this month with over 1,967 views.
YOU CALL THAT AN INCOME???
Of course, $200 is not enough money to pay all of my family’s living expenses, but it’s a great start. As a stay at home mom of two who was not making a single penny to a blogging mama making just over $200 after six months of hard work, I am very satisfied.
I also plan to do regular monthly income reports to keep track of all of the ways I am making money through my new mommy blog. By simply sharing all of the amazing things that I love about natural parenting I am able to help supplement my family’s income.
Finally, I hope that by sharing my blog income reports, you realize that you truly can make some money (however little it may be) by writing a parenting blog. Or any type of blog for that matter.
In this post, I have shared with you two different bloggers who make an income from blogging. And I have also shared with you how I was able to make money with my blog after only blogging for 6 months.
*Do you have a blog? If so share it below. If not, here is my guide to starting one. TELL ME IN THE COMMENTS. I ALWAYS LOVE TO HEAR FROM MY READERS!
