About Me

My name is Heather and I am the owner and writer of Very Anxious Mommy.

And I was born and raised in the beautiful peach state of Georgia. My husband and I were married in 2010 just after finishing high school and have stuck together ever since.

I have always wanted to give my children the best life that I could provide. However, when I had my first child, I didn’t know exactly what type of parent I wanted to be.

I had heard about so many different parenting styles but was not sure which one would work best for our family.

Around 4 months after our daughter, Aubrey was born, my husband and I started looking into different ways to save money as a family. Since my husband was the only one working, living on one income as a family of 3 was extremely difficult.

I thought if I could find a couple ways to trim our budget that we would be able to save a little money.

Green/Natural Parenting

I came across several blog posts talking about all of the benefits of cloth diapering and one of the big benefits was the money savings. But that was not all. Cloth Diapering was also a way to diaper our baby without exposing her to harsh chemicals that disposable diapers had.

That is when we took the plunge into cloth diapers. I bought a stash and have been in love with it ever since.

And then I discovered other ways that I could live and parent naturally without all of the extra additives that come in products on the market.

So one by one we made small changes in our lives.

Although I am trying each and every day to be a more natural/green parent, I am in no way perfect.

With one change at a time, we are doing our best. My husband and I define ourselves as Semi-crunchy. Semi-crunchy for us means we try to live as green, eco-friendly, and natural as we can, but we also do have real-life moments where we are just trying to get through the day and a box of processed mac & cheese is our dinner.

As an imperfect mama, I have to give myself grace and do what works for our family.

As far as the blog, I NEVER in my wildest dreams thought that I would be here and now blogging about my life.

It all started on Pinterest when I was looking for ways to earn an income as a stay-at-home mom. I came across Suzi from StartaMomBlog.com, who was able to write a profitable blog while also staying home full time with her two children.

That’s when it occurred to me that if she could do it so could I. But then reality and my anxiety kicked in.

It wasn’t until later when my husband pushed me to start a blog that I actually made the big decision.

When I first started writing, I had no idea what I wanted to write about other than parenting. But slowly, I realized that I could write about the life that I truly loved.

And when I finally dived into blogging about my green lifestyle, I also found so many other moms who had the same experiences and love for natural parenting as me.

I also was able to build so many relationships that have helped me grow on my blogging journey.
